Apparently, there are three main divisions in the map of Croatia -the littoral, the mountainous backbone and peri-Pannonian region. All these divisions has some unique features of its own. In the north western part the Alps continue up to Croatia, the north eastern part is overshadowed by Dinaric Mountains. The chain of continuing mountains forms a natural boundary of Croatia and is one of the strongest boundary of the country. This mountainous belt together combine to form a boundary between the coastal lands and the Pannonian plain between rivers like Sava, Danube and Drava.
The plains of this region is found along the borders of Hungary. However, there are some highlands and low mountains also near the Adriatic Sea. The plains of this region is restricted mostly to the eastern and north western part. Almost 24% of the land area is fertile. Thus, this place has been a matter of attraction to people and the maximum population of Croatia is found in this place. Due to the huge population this place is well connected to many European countries like Italy, Slovenia and Australia. The last category and the most important part of Croatia is the coastal side, along the Adriatic Sea. This coastal boundary stretches from the border of Slovenia, north of Istria. The numerous islands spread all over the coastal regions of Croatia is also an important topic of study in the map of Croatia. These islands increase the value of the coast.
