Croatia, the country lying in the crossroads of Central Europe and Mediterranean Sea, was always famous for its rich cultural heritage. The culture of this European country can be traced back to the 13th Century. During this period, a number of monuments and cities had been acquired, consequently giving birth to a large number of historical figures. There are six world heritage sites found in this Central European country, coupled with eight national parks. This country is also believed to be associated with rich artistic, literary and musical inheritance. Most of the festivals that are celebrated in this part of the world bear close resemblance with the cultural heritage of this place. As evident from the Croatian festivals, the customs and traditions gets reflected through them and that too, in the most appropriate of manners. For all those who have a clear idea about the Croatian culture and their festivals, it won’t be much of a difficult proposition to correlate the two. The correlation between Croatian festivals and inherent and traditional culture is so much that each of the festivals that are celebrated here reflects a clear picture of this country, which is not so general, when compared to the festivals of other countries. People from this country are always known to have active participation in almost all the festivals that are celebrated in this part of the world. Mainly due to their active participation, the festive season here in Croatia becomes full with fun and frolic, with people from all the societal sections enjoying them to the fullest. All these make the festive season in Croatia, a really memorable one, in every sense of the word.
Folklore festivals in Croatia have always been in the news for their colorful preparations and state of the art decorations. These folklore festivals are marked by specially designed programs altogether with a number of other events, so that the visitors never feel monotony at any point of time.

Always special emphasis in these folklore festivals are given on the participants who come from different parts of the world to perform here. Even participants from other parts of the world also gather here in Croatia, mainly Zagreb, to actively take part in these Folklores.

An important characteristic that is common to almost all the folklores that are organized here in Croatia is that all these folktales are found to be dedicated in the names of some legendary persons related with the world of art, to make this festive occasion, a more meaningful one.

This further goes to show the important role that is being played by the Heritage Festivals of Croatia in close reference to the normal life of a common Croat. A number of traditional festivals are also celebrated in this country that may be given the status of Heritage Festivals of Croatia
