Croatia belong a Catholic country takes immense interest in the festive occasion of Easter. For many Croats, this festival carries more importance than the Christmas Eve. Easter in Croatian begins on the so called Palm Sunday and is known to continue throughout the holy week. During this entire week, processions and cultural ceremonies having a holy touch to them are carried out in most of the important Croatian cities. The religious committee that is found in Korcula is known to organize religious functions on Easter. The emmbers of this association are known to sing gothic hymns and dress up in traditional Christian costumes, in an attempt to embrace the occasion. Even scenes from the holy Bible are enacted during this particular holy Christian festival. The festival and all the ceremonies associated with Easter ends here in Korcula, with the Good Friday.
The festival of Easter is immensely popular in the Dalmatian islands. Brac for instance is famous for its celebration in relation to Easter. Just during thre onset of this festival, the villagers are known to set up enormous bonfires that are popularly known as Kres. However in some other parts of the country, you will find people firing in the air from their old fashioned pistols, so as to create noise.

Another traditional custom prevailing during the festival of Easter in Croatia involves the Noisemakers. These are the people who hang metal plates at the end of a board while other parts are attached to the wheels which are intentionally pulled, so as to create the rattling sound. Even during the end of the Easter week, pointed eggs are given to the near and dear ones, as a token of gift. In southern part of this European country, red eggs bearing a white star are given as a token of love and affection.
