Christmas, the holy festival of the Christians is celebrated all around the world with immense fun and frolic. Everywhere around the world, people from all possible sections of the society come forward and exchange greetings during this particular time of the year. This festive occasion is also characterized by exchange of seasonal greetings and gifts, which enhances fellow feelings. The holy festival is believed to have been initiated in Croatia soon after the Croats accepted to follow the line of Christianity.
As in other parts of the world, Christmas in Croatia is also centered on food and table. Croatia being a Catholic country, its inhabitants make it a point not to consume meat during this holy occasion. Instead of meat, the Croats thrive on fish, during this time of the year.

The main ingredient of a typical Croatian dinner is found to be Turkey or the Roasted Pig. The streets of Zagreb and many other cities lying in this part of the world get lilted up by bright colors. Lighting decorations are conducted on street based buildings, and the entire appearance of the streets seems to change. People from all sections of the society gather in the streets for exchanging best wishes and seasonal greetings. Croats also make it a point to exchange gifts with their near and dear ones, during this time of the year.
Decorating ones own home during the Christmas is also a very common practice followed by the Croats. These people make it a point to adorn their homes with Christmas trees, bright lights and beautiful flowers. The children’s of this country are known to receive gifts from the saints during this festive occasion, who treat them as Little Son of God. Hard drinks are allowed to the Croats during Christmas, however they make it a point to limit themselves only to Brandy and wine.
